Thomas knew his targets liked to hang around this area.

After recovering from his injuries, Thomas focused himself on finding answers. His partner, Andraste Breathnach , had vanished before the events in the Ultra Sea. The rumor was that she had been abducted. If that was true, he suspected Team Rocket of the deed, considering they likely knew she was seeking answers, and revenge, for the death of her mother and brother.

He had a lead on a group of Rockets that might've had a hand in the act. Though they seemed to be the type that someone like Andraste could handle, he had no idea what circumstances were behind it. Were they backing up someone stronger?

Thomas waited quietly, accompanied by Mordred the Ceruledge.

"I need them alive.", he'd whisper to the Fire-type.

It had been an average day in the late spring slash early summer for the young Vanilla and her RotomPhone, Proxii. The two had been busy casting a line over near the water as Proxii scoured the surface for their target. "There's got to be a Briney Root down there somewhere. I can almost taste that Breamy Soup!" he buzzed aloud. The semi mute girl behind him would nod. She had been through so much in her travels so far. Meeting all kinds of people, getting possessed, and even almost losing Proxii. Although she had normally been so meek and timid, the girl was starting to find her own voice in Hoenn. Something that she never would have expected back in Galar. Vanilla smiled to herself, enjoying their little hunt for their next ingredient.

Just as the day seemed too perfect to ruin, 2 shady individuals would come from behind. They summoned a variety of Pokemon as she looked to her left at their approach. "U-Uh...Hi?" They grinned, barking orders at her to drop the rod and give her everything she had on her. Unfortunately for them (and her herself), Vanilla instead reached for her first three Pokeballs and threw them out. An Altaria, a Sylveon and a Cinderace would pop out in due time. "We've been needing a couple of practice dummies for some training! Come on and get it you big fat jerks!"

A few short minutes of intense battling later, Vanilla had ben dragged into an alleyway by the two thugs plus the many more than jumped out of the blue the moment she had gained an advantage. Despite being outnumbered, the girl had done a pretty good job at holding them off. She was held by her throat against the wall by the Rocket grunt, squirming to try and get free while her bag and RotomPhone were taken from her. "Lemme go! I'll charcoal every last one of you! Vanilla! Hold on I'm- HMMPH!MMMMPH!" His speaker was muffled through the arm of the Rocket member while the trainer grunted, kicking her feet. "Ge-Get off..."

Nothing could ever be so simple.

The group of thugs he was after had managed to find a new victim, it seemed. A girl had been cornered, only for her to bring out three Pokemon. Of course, their friends snuck up on her, and began to drag her into the alley.

Thomas signaled Ceruledge to trail him, but stay out of sight. He would move in, Pokeballs ready to be drawn quickly.

"Get the fuck off of her, and leave her stuff!", a familiar voice hissed. In the darkness, a tall man would walk into the alley. Though his face had been marked with a vertical scar down the left side, and his hair blackened, the voice of the Kalosian gave him away quickly.

Mordred waited in the shadows, watching the scene. Spotting the girl, he found a potential way to move in.

The group of thugs turned to face the voice, as did Vanilla and Proxii. The trainer let out a surprised gasp, that familiar voice! Standing in the middle of the entrance to the alley would stand a tall man with a scar over his eye. AT his command, some few thugs would take off down the alley. With them gone, there came to be only six people left in the alley with their Pokemnon. A Houndoom growled at the newcomer, with the 2 Sableyes digging through her bag looking up, a Scizor doing nothing, a Trubbish trembling in a garbage can, and a Persian perched atop the catwalk above.

"Cheese it! It's the League!"
"I can't go back to prison! I'm out on bail!"

"Hold it right there, pretty boy." However, the man holding Vanila was cocky, taunting the man with a knowing grin as he picked up Vanilla from the wall, still holding her by the throat. She grunted, trying to pry his hand from her neck but to no avail. "In case any of you forgot, we've got the advantage here, Scarface. Not only is it 8 to 1, but the moment you try anything..." SHWNG! A Scizor's vice went around Vanilla's neck he pulled awya, now being held up by this steel-bug type. "We're going to add three extra holes to this girl's neck. So why don't you empty your pockets and we'll take those pokemon off your hands, you hasbeen elite 4."

Thomas scanned the alley carefully, looking over all the Pokemon that they had on them. A Scizor, two Sableye, a Houndoom, a Trubbish, and a Persian atop the catwalk.

As the three men scarpered off, Thomas stared down the others. Mordred, from his position, would watch the men takeoff, making sure they didn't get ready to rush Thomas from behind.

Before Thomas could correct the idiots on his affiliation, the head goon, the man he wanted the most, spoke up. If not for his strong sense of discipline, he'd have laughed in their faces. Little did they know, having a hostage wasn't going to save them. And the fact that she was handed off to a Scizor only made it worse for them.

Thomas acted like he'd comply for a moment, slowly taking off a Pokeball he had hidden on him first. But as it looked like he was about to put it down, he stared the leader in the eye.

"I like those odds.", the Kalosian commented.

In that moment, the short teenager would suddenly find herself teleported out of the vice-grip of the armored bug, and to the entrance of the alley, where the Ceruledge was. Mordred would end up in the grip of the Scizor, staring down the bug with sadistic intent, before slashing at the insect with Bitter Blades.

"Say hello to my little friend!", Thomas bellowed out venomously.

The ball that he grabbed would be deployed, revealing a strange Pokemon that resembled a Gallade, but with traits of Gardevoir, and a robotic appearance. The strange Pokemon wasted no time in unleashing a Dazzling Gleam down the alley.

Vanilla's heart beat in her chest rapidly, feeling the Scizor's clamp around her neck tighten in preparation. Her eyes went to Proxii as the Rotom would muffle out several strings of vulgarity that she didn't even know her phone could have. But as the Rocket grunts threatened the man, he'd stay collected and cool as ever. Her heart sank as Thomas kneeled to place down his belt before suddenly, the world around her would physically shift. Vanilla found herself collapsed in the entrance of the alleyway, looking at the spot where she was at as the sound around her had gone silent for everything but her heart. SHe had been frightened, terrified of having her journey end so tragically. She'd try and calm herself, breathing in and out as she felt the familiar sensation of a soft weight against her head. EYes went up, looking at Proxii who was carefully tugging on her arm towards the people coming from behind them both. She'd slowly regain her hearing just in time to hear the cries of nearby Rocket.

"You little tricky shit!" Cried the man that had tried to hold her hostage, now watching his Pokémon get attacked. "Steeltrap, Metal Claw!" The Scizor went for the Ability Swap'd hostage Pokémon just before Thomas' second had shown itself. "What the hell is that?!" The leader asked before the Dazzling Gleam would shower upon the other pokemon down the alley. They'd stumble, dazed by the attack, but quickly move in to pounce on the two Pokémon.

"Guys! They're not giving up!"
"BRING OUT THE BIG GUNS!"

She looked back to see other Rocket member scurrying towards them with their Pokémon out. "A-Ah, get my stuff, Proxii!!"
"On it!"

The Rotom swooped down towards everyone's legs after abandoning her phone, jittering around to go and collect Vanilla's pokeballs while the small group was getting closer. Just in the nick of time, Vanilla looked to her side and smiled at her team being dropped off by her helper. Thinking quickly, she threw out the oddly colored capsule first. Mainly just to show off to Thomas but also because it could handle itself well. "It's your turn, Electrolyte!" The capsule opened, as a towering mechanical Pokemon would let out a digitized roar as the other grunts moved back in surprise.

"Pin Missle!" The Iron THorn's barbs grinded together, soon shooting out across the environment as people dove for cover, got stuck with needles or had their clothing torn to shreds. Proxii followed this up as he'd pulse with electricity and shoot it off in a condensed mass towards an enemy's Fearow.

"Thank you for saving me." Vanilla said in appreciation. "I'll take the ones behind us if you can handle them in the alley."

This bug was tough, the Ceruledge had to admit. Still, the Metal Claw did little to harm the battle hardened Fire-type, who retaliated with a more concentrated delivery of Bitter Blade, intent on finishing off the Scizor, before finding a new target.

Thomas expected the men who 'escaped' earlier to attempt to attack him from behind. But the fact that the girl, rather than just running off, decided to help him, helped things along. Especially when she produced a Pokemon that looked like a shorter, mechanical Tyranitar.

He had to wonder if it would benefit from Electric Terrain as well.

"Of course. Let me set the stage.", he offered, having his Iron Valiant set up an Electric Terrain around them. This would set the conditions for their Quark Drives to activate, causing the Iron Valliant's strength to increase, which would likely be the case for the Iron Thorns accompanying the girl.

The change to Electric Terrain had caused both of the Pokémon to power up exponentially. Iron Thorns churned with electricity as it let out a thunderous cry, ready to do battle. The same happened with Thomas' Pokemon as they each launched into battle with the other enemies. The Scizor, having been bested, would collapse to the ground with the second Bitter Blade, the leader cursing out loud as he recalled it into his Pokeball. "Well don't just stand there, you idiots! Get them!" The two Sableeye began to rush towards the Ceruledge, lashing out with Shadow Claw each time.

Meanwhile, with Vanilla, she'd quickly take snaps of the Pokémon in the alley every now and again once the enemies outside were done attacking. Electrolyte stomped closer towards an unfortunate Heatmoor before kkicking up a chunk of the sidewalk at it, throwing it away. Everything else had faired better off, although Vanilla would keep blocking the backside of Thomas. "Hit 'em with another Rock Slide! Then Wild Charge the Golem!" The Iron Rock swung its tail to knock more rocks off, then took off in a dead sprint to the other, clashing against the ground type as they clashed against one another.

"Doing okay, Thomas?"

Ceruledge, the Fire Blades Pokémon. The fiery blades on its arms burn fiercely with the lingering resentment of a sword wielder who fell before accomplishing their goal. Ceruledge cuts its enemies to pieces without mercy.

This time, the Bitter Blade struck down the Scizor, its life force seeping into his body. He would allow the Sableye to come closer to him, before vanishing into the Phantom Force, causing their Shadow Claws to whiff.

The Iron Valiant, seeing an opportunity, subjected the two Sableye to a more concentrated Dazzling Gleam, intent on knocking the two of them out.

Thomas eyed the rest of the group, noting that the Persian, Trubbish, and Houndoom were all in play. He had his hand ready for another Pokeball, should they attempt to come after him directly.

"I'm good, and you?", he'd ask her.

Unfortunately, the two Sableye were kncoked away from the Dazzling Gleam, taken out of the fight as they'd lie down in the alley. Meanwhile, the Trubbish poked its head out of the garbage can, looking at the two before launching a glob of Sludge at the Ceruledge before hiding back in its safety rubbish bin. Meanwhile, the Houndour followed this up with a loud howl, then unleashing a fiery hot Flamethrower down the alleyway towards the Pokémon and its trainer. Vanilla fared well against the others, with the Iron Thorns bouncing away the Golem with a fierce uppercut.

"O-Okay. Better now that I'm fighting side by side with THE Thomas Benoit! You're like a living legend!" she answered back, the gang of thugs starting to slowly disperse.

"This sucks, man! I'm out!"
"What kind of Pokémon are these? I quit! Let's book it before we get arrested!"
"Damn it! Pockets! Get the kid and her microwave out of the picture!"

The Persian leapt over Thomas and his Pokémon before scuffling with Vanilla and her Iron Thorn. It clawed against the Iron Thorn, using Fury Swipes to land fast attacks against the Paradox Pokémon. The towering Pokémon let out pained, annoyed grunts as it tried to shake the attacker off of its body. It struck fast and quick, with Vanilla uncertain of what to do. "Ah, Electrolyte, try and get him off! Wild Charge!" She barrel forward, surrounding itself with electricity while its attacker would continue to struggle.

It had been a long time since anyone really commented on his past. But then, he had made himself scarce from the public eye, following his departure from the League. The man hardly knew how to respond to the compliment.

"Hey, I'm just a man who does what needs to be done.", he'd tell her.

The Ceruledge would reemerge away from where the Sableye had attempted to attack him, only to be pelted with Sludge from one of the trashcans. The black knight Pokemon shot the trashcan the Trubbish ducked back into the dirtiest look, before seeing the Houndoom attempt to spray down Thomas and his new friend with Flamethrower.

Quickly, he'd Ally Switch with the Iron Valiant, putting himself in the path of the Flamethrower. Thanks to Flash Fire allowing him to absorb the jet of fire without repercussion, the Ceruledge charged the Houndoom, before lunging at the hellhound, and attempting to maul it in Close Combat.

The Iron Valiant would leap towards the trashcan that housed the Trubbish, leveling a Psycho Cut at it.

As the Persian attempted to attack the mechanical Tyranitar, Thomas reached for another Pokeball. He'd bring out Thread the Galvantula, who'd emit a Bug Buzz aimed at the Persian, in order to assist the Iron Thorns.

"I can see why." Vanilla replied back with a glowing smile, watching as he'd make short work of the other Pokemon across from him. The Houndoom charging a Flamethrower had been spotted by the Ceruledge while he'd shoot towards the trash can where the Trubbish was. Vanilla watched as his pokemon suddenly swapped places with where her Iron Thorns was. Now in the way of the oncoming Flamethrower, it would bring its hide against the attack, defending against it as the type would remain defiant against the attack. After taking the brunt of the move, the ghost and fire type moved back into attacking position while It swung as the Houndour before it could retaliate, sending it back down the alley. Even the poor Trubbish was felled before the Pokemon.

"You're like, unbelievable! How did you get so good at training?" Vanilla asked before her attention was diverted onto the Persian attacking her. She panicked, not knowing what to really do or how to get it off of Electrolyte. But a timely intervention by a bug type she had never seen before had gotten the Persian off. The feline hissed, pouncing back and forth towards the Galvantula before the Iron Thorns had grabbed a hold of its leg. With an angry grunt, it raised its mouth and sunk a Thunder Fang into the attacker's flank. The Persian, shocked from th impact, had squirmed free and went to Play Rough with the attacking bug type.

Thomas remained focus on the task at hand, dealing with the remaining Pokemon, and their trainers. Most pertinent of all, making sure they didn't grab the girl again, and making sure they didn't escape.

To which end, Mordred and the Iron Valiant both attempted to corner the men in the alley. The two ruthless Pokemon were ready to make an example of the thugs, though without killing them.

"Years of practice.", he'd answer her briefly. Though there was much more to that, he could always show her later.

The Persian had managed to lunge at the Galvantula, biting, and clawing at it. Once it was over, the battered Galvantula managed to leap back. Thread would fire a bolt of Thunder from his Mandibles towards the Persian, aided by his Compoundeyes.

It did make sense. He had likely been at this hero stuff a lot longer than she had spent baking things for other people. But still, she was still so new to battling that Vanilla couldn't help but look up to this guy. His strategy, his calm mind, even that cool look of determination on his face! SO cool...

"I'll have to try and speed up that process if I wanna be the champion." She said while looking back over at the Galvantula fighting against the Persian. The attack against the other bug type did land and scattered it across the way. Fortunately, the spider would shoot out an electrified web at the Pokemon. The Persian was struck, immobilized by the attack while Vanilla took out her phone and scanned both. Seeing an opportunity, she's let out a sharp whistle. "Proxii! Hex 'em!" The Rotom would emit a shadow energy, launching a slender tendril of energy at the trapped feline while it took a massive hit and collapsed, still paralyzed.

"Fall back! We've lost too many reinforcements!"
"This sucks! I quit!"

Grunts and such began to flee away from the two as Vanilla looked back to see the leader slowly backing away. With Electrolyte still in the alleyway, she'd point at the fleeing opponent. "Rock Slide!" The Iron Thorn cried out, stomping its foot in the middle of the alleyway. A wall of jagged rocks impeded the man's path as the leader would come to a stop before them. Electrolyte would stomp closer, grabbing the man and holding him to the ground as he let out a terrified shriek. "L-Lemme go! I'm sorry for trying to rob you guys! Just let me go, man! I'm just a city boss! I ain't even a part of the meetings!"

Scanned:

Galvantula, the EleSpider Pokémon. It launches electrified fur from its abdomen as its means of attack. Opponents hit by the fur could be in for three full days and nights of paralysis. While it is immobilized by shock, they leisurely consume it.

Persian, the Classy Cat Pokémon. Its elegant and refined behavior clashes with that of the barbaric Perrserker. The relationship between the two is one of mutual disdain. It has a vicious temperament. Beware if it raises its tail straight up. This is a signal that it is about to pounce and bite.
